I received this question from a man in India:

What is the difference between point of order and point of information?

There is no such thing technically as a “Point of Information” just as there is no such thing as a point of clarification.

A point of order is when a procedure or protocol has been breached – the “order” of the meeting has been done incorrectly.

A “point of Information” is simply when someone wants to offer some information. All they have to do is attract the attention of the chair as say, “I have some information which may be useful to share.”
